About this deal

Patterned (according to their literature) as slightly warm and inviting, I again concur with their advertising. It is also v-shaped. Even I can sense that. While neither bass nor treble is over-emphasized, they definitely take the front. Vocals are not subdued or withdrawn that much though, and overall it is a pleasantly warm signature, which fits my bill. For the price, even better. To be fair, these earphones perform pretty well in the highs as compared to other earphones at its price range. Usually earphones within this price range has too much highs and sound sibilant, but this is never the case for KS2. While the KS1 falls under the umbrella of "generic V-shape" tuning, KBEAR pretty much nailed the tonal balance in the KS1 - big bass for a warm listen and highs that don't pierce the ears. The KS1 is amazing for its price, I'm happy to take my audiophile cap off just for the KS1 for easy listening and I love that it also makes a great gift for non-audiophile friends because its tuning is very consumer friendly. The only warning I can give to those who are ready to buy this is that it might have too much bass for some listeners. But if you don't mind and just want something warm and easy-going, the KS1 is definitely worth the blind buy. Listening to Earth Wind Fire's "September" on these is fun; the bass really shines through in this song and sounds particularly groovy due to that fast bass and forward bass presence. Every note from the bass guitar is clear and fast which adds to the groove.

The comfort feels alright for an earbud, and I do not get any irritations from the housing of the earbuds as I prefer to use the earbuds as is without the foam covers. The edges are all smooth and feels comfortable on my ears. I remember using the VE Monks and feeling rather annoyed with it as the edges of the plastic kept poking against my ears.

COMPARISONS

There are two vents on the inner-side, placed on the same axis. Channel markings are on the side of the shell. The 2-pin connectors protrude from the shell unfortunately and should be handled with care. I have linked to the full album because, for those who like this type of music, it is worth listening to. Disclaimer: I received this pair directly from KB Ear’s Ali store in exchange for posting a review. Thanks to @WendyLi at KB Ear for the offer. I consider this to be a mini review for my own sanity. I burned these in for ~150+ hours before listening for the purposes of this review. Having on dynamic driver (10mm) and one balanced armature along with 16Ohm impedance and 106dB sensitivity makes the KS2 easier to drive than some of its rivals. I can confer with those findings as the KS2 does seem easy to drive. Since this is designed to be used as a Smartphone replacement headphone, that only makes sense. And it works out that way.

Powerful and deep with a tight midbass , it doesn't interfere with the midrange and the texture is medium level in quantity. Speed is also medium level , not the fastest or the slowest I've heard and also it has cleaness to it. I threw almost every song from Boyz II Men's Platinum Collection on it and it reproduced it really well. Vocals were clear, coupled with the bass of the song, it provides quite a depth to the song which is surprising for an earphone of this price range. I really enjoyed listening to RnB on these pair of earphones! KS1 is a v-shaped iem and hence the mids are recessed and sounded thin. E500 owns this part where it sounds balanced in the mix without being recessed. Meanwhile, Tanya has a slightly less forward mids but is covered up by lower treble, which overall sounds a bit upper mids and lower treble emphasized. This indie classic is always good to hear at any point of time. The whole experience in Believe is very amazing with a good amount of air in between the instruments. This is well represented with a big sense of soundstage. I am not an expert in this hobby nor claim to be an audiophile. I just love listening to music and am fond of writing. Soundstage on the Believe is pretty wide and has good depth. The imaging is good and has fairly distinct positioning. The layering is good and music, even with busy sections are being rendered correctly without sounding too congested, instrument separation is pretty decent for the price point. The bassis solid without being bossy or boomy. Nicely detailed and present at the right level, there is a contented amount and presence in the lower regions. It does not offend me, and only covers the lower mids a bit from my “expert” listening.
